This historical mosque in Istanbul is an architectural work of art and is considered the most important mosque in Istanbul. With blue tiles surrounding the walls of interior design, the mosque soon became known as the Blue Mosque by tourists, and the Sultan Ahmed Mosque Camii by the locals. Built in the early 1600’s, the Blue Mosque became a tomb of its founder, amadrasa, and a hospice.

There are 3 entrances to the mosque, over 21 thousand Izniktiles, 260 windows with stained glass, and calligraphy art of the Quranic verses. The 34-meter high central dome is also surrounded by smaller domes.
